Rated 4 out of 5 by Bachs Brews from Good to find ABV of your brews! This is a great product and affordable compared to other similar products. The only downside is that I had to do my own research on how to actually use this. It'd be nice if there was a one pager that gave you instructions to properly use it, but in the end I figured it out and now I know what the actual ABV is of my beers. It's nice to have that if you end up experimenting and adding in more things that what the recipe calls for instead of going off the ABV the recipe says it could be. You feel like a master brewer while using it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Eagle from Hydrometer and Sample Tube A Good Little Tool for The ABV & ABW. but the thing is there are no instructions for it at all. So you must go to You tube to see how you use it. Other then that works like it should and you will always know when it is ready to bottle. I Gave it 3 stars because of no instructions for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Paperspiders from Great! I had to watch videos on how to use it, but after that I wouldn't be without it. I love knowing what the ABV actually is. Its not necessary for brewing but it definitely adds to the experience of brewing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Davz13 from Neat to figure out ABV I like how this tool helps you figure out the ABV, and helps you determine when the brew is ready to bottle. However, it does not come with instructions (you have to find a video on youtube to see how to actually use this), and i wish it had a mark on the glass tube to show you where to fill it up to to get a consistent volume for accurate reading (so i marked mine with a sharpie). Therefore, I dropped my rating down to a 3.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Bobaloo from I like it I searched the internet for a hydrometer. Most of them were fancy schmancy with multiple scales, storage racks, etc. I just needed a simple hydrometer and this fit the bill. Also the price made it irresistible. Now I know when fermentation is complete and I can calculate the ABV in my beer. It is a very basic two-piece kit that you can't go wrong with.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Timot0 from Instructions are non-existent Nice product. But it comes with NO INSTRUCTIONS of any kind. Not even a post it note. Now come on Mr. Beer. If we are buying one, can't you at least include a web link on where to go? I mean I know it wasn't expensive, but 10 cents worth of paper would have made a big difference...

Rated 3 out of 5 by beer_inthe_headlights from No Scale Type / No Calibration Temp. Indicated Though all of the comments on this product indicated that as a first time buyer I should be aware that there are no instructions, I bought it anyway hoping to figure it out. I read through your brief blog post instruction as well as a number of third party sources to try and figure out how to use this hydrometer. Your blog post indicates that hydrometers can come in different varieties with various scales printed on them, but you do not indicate what scales are printed on this particular hydrometer. Is it Plato, Brix or SG? Also all the interactions that I find here and on other sites indicate that there should be a calibration temperature printed on the hydrometer...usually either 59 degrees F or 60 degrees F, but again that is neither shown on this item nor is that temperature indicated on your blog post. So which temperature do we use with this particular hydrometer? How hard would it be for you to just cut and paste your blog post (with a few extra details) and drop that in the box with the item before you ship it? Or just email it along with the order acknowledgment. One last question. If I did not measure the SG of the wort, but I have my finished beer ready to drink, can I use this hydrometer to tell me the current, final alcohol content, or is it imperative to take the before and after measurements and then do the math to calculate that? This product seem just fine in quality, but I have to rate it as "average" because of the missing information. Which, for novices like most of us using Mr. Beer products, is extremely important.
