PROFILE:

An American IPA that is true to style: bitter, bold and hoppy. Pale malt strikes a fitting counterpoint to all the complexity of the hops that are classic for this style. Citrusy and floral, with notes of pine and resin and a bitterness that lingers. It’s all about the hops in this beer.

    Turned out okay

A long time to brew and condition. I think it turned out earthier than I expected. Also tastes of pines and hops. Pours a dark brown w/ khaki head.

    IPA review

The beer has decent hoppiness but the finish is too bitter. Would like a smoother finish to an IPA. Any ideas on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.

    Great tasting beer

This is my first truly successful home brew. Very tasty with a good but not over-powering hop profile. Good head. I let this ferment for 3 weeks and condition for 6 weeks. According to the hydrometer I had an original gravity of 1.055 and a final gravity of 1.009 for an ABV of 6.04%.

My standard to compare future IPAs....

This was an excellent beer for my first brew ever. I love IPAs-the more hoppy it is the more I enjoy them. I added in some Falconer's hops to the recipe with a half cup of honey. I will make this again but would like to make it a bit stronger both in hops and alcohol. The Diablo IPA has set the bar for my future beers it was that tasty and enjoyable.
