Rated 3 out of 5 by Ferg from Too Expensive For the cost you could do dozens of batches with regular sugar.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kokomatiko from Like the Carbonation drops No problems with the carbonation drops. They are convenient and easy to remember and to detect how many of them you've added to the bottles. However, I haven't found a way to cut them into halves for the 12 oz bottles. Does anyone have a good idea?

Rated 5 out of 5 by AZNHB from Great for the new brewer People have said "Oh they are too expensive", but I would wholly recommend them for their simplicity in building your brewing skills. Once you have perfected the foundation, then you can get into batch priming etc. I think these really help new brewers see how much carbonation affects the end product, so as they progress they can use online calculators to change carbonation expectations between different styles of beer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jason Sullivan from Easy and effective I only use carbo drops! no taste quick and effective, I use 1 and a half drops for my bottles. it gives my beer the perfect amount of carbonation every time!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Andrew12 from Carb Drops Got my kit for Christmas last year and brewed a batch of nicely conditioned ale. Drops didn't work. Not even a little bit. No carbonation whatsoever. Changed temps, experimented with different lagering times and even got new bottles/caps on case they weren't air tight. Nothing. Super disappointed and a waste of a good batch of brew/4 months of my life. Do yourself a favor and toss these bad boys in the garbage and use measured sugar for your fizz needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hoff from Much better instead of sugar! I bought these in hope that they would be better at carbonating my batches instead of adding sugar, and they turned out to be excellent! My beer didn't taste flat anymore, and the drops worked very well with carbonating my batch. I highly recommend using instead of sugar.

can i use one carbonation drop per 12oz bottle without having explosions? i like a good carbonation. Directions call for 2 carbonation drops per 750ml bottle and  750ml = approx 25.3 oz. divided by 2 =12.65 oz. not exact but close.

How much should be used for 12 oz bottles?

Asked by: kaquinio
The proper amount is 3/4 of a carbonation drop. Since it can be difficult to cut that properly, you can also use 3/4 tsp of white sugar to carbonate. Or, you can use 1 whole carbonation drop, but run the risk of over carbonating your beer. If you use 1 carb drop, make sure to keep a close eye on your bottles to make sure you refrigerate as soon as they are done, otherwise the bottles can explode.

how many of these drops do I use in a 12 oz. glass bottle?

Asked by: hunterstp
You would use 3/4 of a carbonation drop in 12 oz bottles. Since that can be hard to cut, sometimes people prefer to use 3/4 tsp of white sugar instead to carbonate.

How many carbonation drops for 12 oz. beer bottle

Asked by: Bliss
You can add 3/4 of a carbonation drop, which is hard to cut. You can try adding 1 whole carbonation drop, but you have to keep a close eye on your bottles to make sure they aren't over carbonating, which can lead to exploding. If you are using glass bottles, it can be hard to watch the bottles properly for over carbonation. You can also use 3/4 tsp of white sugar in lieu of carbonation drops.
