    Hoping it comes out well

I’m excited about this recipe! Unfortunately when I began my initial process I realized that I was missing the crystal-40 Malt. Bummer but I just went ahead and ordered the Malt separately. It came about a week later and only then did I realize I was also missing the Munich malt. At that point I just decided to go without it. Very disappointing that such important ingredients were missing in the first place but I’m hoping the beer comes out well despite that.

    Excellent

I was home brewing at least once a month for about 4 years straight. Things changed and I took a year and half break from it. Wanting to get back into it but not wanting to do all grain again and spend 5 hours I saw Mr Beer offered these 5 gallon recipes. I did the 3 zombies 2 gallon kit when I first started out home brewing so I figured I try out the 5 gallon kit. Definitely was not disappointed with this! Brewing process and steps are very simple outcome was spot on with what they described it. Only things I did differently was I did not leave the hop sacs in the fermenter I took those out before I pitched the yeast. I wanted to make sure I didn’t cause any off flavors with old hops sitting in the fermenter. I also fermented it for 2 weeks and not the 3 it was saying So I dry hopped it a little bit earlier. One thing I would recommend is throwing in a whirlfloc tablet or some Irish moss at the start of the boil or 5 mins into the boil so that it can help with the clarity of the beer. other than that I transferred it into a keg and let it sit for 10 days and it came out great. Really enjoyed this one and highly recommend this to any who is looking to play around with some grains and jump into 5 gallon batches. Looking forward to brewing the other 5 gallon batches Mr Beer has to offer!
