Your Brew Breakdown

Everything you need to craft your perfect brew

STORY

Overview: A Darker Shade of Blonde Stout flips the script on what a stout can be. Brewed with Golden Ale Brewing Extract, Czech Pilsner Brewing Extract, oat flakes, cacao nibs, coffee beans, vanilla extract, and S-04 yeast, it delivers smooth stout-like flavor with a lighter color that makes the first pour a surprise.

PROFILE

Tasting Notes: Expect a lighter-colored beer with smooth body, full malt flavor, coffee aroma, subtle cacao nib character, soft vanilla depth, and hints of chocolate-like richness. It drinks like a stout, but pours much lighter than expected.

IMPORTANT BREWING NOTE

Extras Addition Note: The cacao nibs, coffee beans, and vanilla extract are added on day 14 of fermentation, then the beer ferments for 7 more days.

Cold Crash Note: This recipe benefits from a 24-hour cold crash before bottling. Cold crashing can help the coffee, cacao nibs, oats, yeast, and sediment settle before packaging.

Blonde Stout Note: This beer is designed to deliver coffee, cacao, vanilla, and smooth stout-like body while keeping a lighter appearance than a traditional stout.

    Great brew

Just bottled our batch and waiting for it to carbonate. The recipe was easy to follow and tasted great when we tried it to make sure it was ready. I love using these kits to make our own beer at home.

    Unique and amazing malty flavor

This recipe has so much flavor it’s hard to describe. Very malty strong aroma. This isn’t something I’d want every night but once in a while for special occasions this one is a winner!

    Mocha Beer?

I had a starting gravity of 1.083 fermented for 19 days for an FG of 1.021 which gave me an ABV of 8.14% and an apparent attenuation of 74.7%.The final product has a mocha nose. There are flavors of cocoa powder and coffee. I had low carbonation and a med-heavy mouth feel.

A Darker Shade of Blonde Stout

This is a really good one. I added a little crystal malt and used Mexican vanilla. The flavor before carbonation was incredible I'm having a very hard time waiting another week and a half!
