Your Brew Breakdown

Everything you need to craft your perfect brew

These medium toast oak chips will allow you to imitate the characteristics of an oak barrel without the cost. The process of toasting the chips at 350-375 °F adds notes of vanilla and caramel that will transfer into your beer with proper use. Try soaking them in your favorite bourbon or rum for a more complex flavor.

    Go big or go home

The oak chips just seem a waste of space I purchased a piece of white oak 6x3x1/2 heavy charred with a torch then soaked that in bourbon for 6 months then placed the entire piece in the now fermented wort it works so much better than those tiny chips which appear to be red oak and not charred.

Oak Wood Chips something to try.

Easy to use gave the beer a different flavor and was true a craft home brew.It was a beer that you would have a hard time finding in the commercial sector.

soak these oak chips in bourbon

I soaked these oak chips in bourbon and added them to a peach ale after 14 days fermenting. It produced a ton of flavor just as I was hoping for.

    Great addition/Perfect Size

Bought these for porter/stout trial and really liked them. Price wise they were great for a single serving (ie 2 gallon batch) and you can add a versatile of flavors to complement them. Put mine in bourbon the 2nd week of fermentation tossed them in the 3rd week (1 week before bottling) and the flavor was amazing! Very nice hints of bourbon and oak without overpowering the beer. You can buy bigger batches elsewhere for less cost per oz but unless you're turning out batches of oak additives beer it's not worth it.
