Summer time means outdoor chores, like the always dreaded lawn mowing. Barley decided it was time to create a “lawn mower beer” that is crisp and refreshing, lighter bodied with a low ABV, and perfect for cooling down after a long day of yard work. This Cucumber Cerveza uses the light colored, crisp cerveza base, but takes things up a notch with a clean, refreshing bite from cucumbers. This Cucumber session beer is the ultimate summer treat.

10% of each Cucumber Cerveza recipe sold will be donated to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. In honor of Barley, who was once a homeless pup himself, our goal at Mr. Beer is to use Barley’s homebrew recipes to benefit homeless animals in need in our local community. Delicious beer for a great cause… what more could you ask for?

    Hummm not so sure!

From someone who likes a more robust beer I was taken aback by this concoction. 3 weeks in the fermenter 2 weeks in the bottles and a couple of days in the frig- I couldn't wait to try it.To me there's nothing left in this beer that would indicate that I had used a Aztec Cerveza kit with extra malt The beer has neither a strong malt presence or hops presence for that matter. The cucumbers are there no doubt but they exist as a rather flowery taste that wraps around your tongue and only tastes like sort of like cucumber after swallowing. Not a lot of maltyness or hopyness either. Sort of reminds me a little of Champale flavor of years ago. I'm going to be interested in what my buddies think- but I don't hold out much hope. Maybe a little longer in the bottles will help.
