Your Brew Breakdown

Everything you need to craft your perfect brew

STORY

Overview: Crimson Knight Imperial Red Ale is a bold, strong red ale brewed with Golden Ale Brewing Extract, Canadian Blonde Brewing Extract, Booster, Crystal 60 Malt, Northern Brewer hops, Columbus hops, Amarillo hops, and US-05 yeast. It delivers caramel malt character, firm bitterness, citrusy dry hop aroma, and a powerful 8.7% finish.

PROFILE

Tasting Notes: Expect a strong imperial red ale with rich malt flavor, caramel depth, firm hop bitterness, citrusy Amarillo aroma, and a balanced-but-bold finish. It is bigger, stronger, and hoppier than a standard red ale.

IMPORTANT BREWING NOTE

Dry Hop Note: The Amarillo hops are added directly to the fermenter on day 14. This adds fresh hop aroma and citrusy character without adding more boil bitterness.

Strong Beer Note: This is a higher-ABV imperial red ale. Additional conditioning can help the malt, hop bitterness, dry hop aroma, and alcohol warmth smooth into the finished beer.

Yeast Note: Use the included US-05 Dry Ale Yeast for fermentation. Do not use the yeast packets from under the Brewing Extract lids for this recipe.

    Very Tasty!!!!

I purchased this kit a few months ago and it took a while before I was home enough to brew ferment and age it. Anyway I followed the directions which to me were a bit difficult to follow. When it came time to bottle it I thought it looked bad and not right but it smelled ok. After letting it sit for 14 days I chilled one and cracked it open. It did not look like the photo on the website and I was worried that it wasn't right. The beer was cloudy but it was red. I took a drink and - WOW!!!!!! - tasted exactly like my favorite red ale from a favorite brewery. It does have a slight bitterness however that is expected with this type of beer. I recommend this beer and will definitely purchase more of it in the future.
