Everything you need to craft your perfect brew

STORY

Overview: Flatiron Trail Ale is inspired by one of Arizona’s best-known trails and brewed for the same kind of balance: enough character to keep things interesting, but smooth enough to enjoy after a long day outside. This amber-style ale uses Oktoberfest Lager Brewing Extract, Smooth DME, Crystal 60, red wheat flakes, Northern Brewer hops, Glacier hops, and S-04 yeast for a malt-forward beer with clean hop balance.

    Good Fall Ale

It is a good fall ale but MRB does have better amber/brown ale recipes. I gave it 6-8 weeks conditioning before trying. Hop boil takes some time and really reduces down the DME grain mixture. As far a comparing it to the beer it is cloned after: darker heavier and a little more bitter. I did a side by side taste (see picture). Color difference aside due to the extract they taste similar I think the LT is lighter and would be easier to drink a lot of them. Overall a solid fall beer would likely make again.

Lots of great flavors low ABV

This is a great looking great tasting brew. I wanted a sessionable balanced beer for Spring. I enjoyed the flavor and appearance of this one and it would make a great Fall beer as stated earlier (Oktoberfest base). Nice copper-brown color and good head retention. Fruity herbal aroma with caramel start and hoppy finish. I've been using Mr. Beer for many years but only somewhat familiar with the hops in this one so that also drew my interest. I've thought about upping my game to all-grain but Mr. Beer just makes it so easy to make excellent beer on a busy schedule. I would make this one again for Fall.
