    Great Brown Ale

I open my first bottle after 5 months of conditioning beers of this type I usually wait until the 6th month. What a surprise from the first taste it reminded me of a local Florida brewery Cigar City beer Maduro. I sensed chocolate and coffee notes. As I continued to enjoy my new beer the taste got stronger and I the hint of whiskey flavor came through. I added Gentleman Jack Bourbon Whiskey (my favorite) my ABV came to 8.6%. This is definitely a reorder.

Fantastic brown that only gets better with time.

This is one of my favorite recipes from Mr. Beer. I've since moved to all grain brewing but still come back to buy this partial mash and the Novocain Barley Wine. The flavor notes in this beer start off pretty punchy in weeks 4-6 but really begin to develop around months 3-4. Though I'd have to say the sweet spot was after the 5 month mark of conditioning. My advise try to only drink one/two a week after the 8 week mark and compare the flavors as it continues to condition.

    Great Beer!

I’ve left several reviews of Mr. Beer recipes and have loved several of them. This one stands head and shoulders above the rest … and that saying a lot. It has a lot of different flavors - oak bourbon coffee - that all seem to come together for a great beer. I will repeat this one soon!
