STORY

Overview: Midnight Lantern Pumpkin Stout is a rich fall stout brewed with Coopers Dark UME, Smooth DME, lactose, Chocolate Malt, Crystal 40, Carapils, Glacier hops, S-33 yeast, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract. It delivers dark malt depth, creamy body, seasonal spice, and smooth pumpkin flavor.

PROFILE

Tasting Notes: Expect a dark, malty stout with roasted chocolate notes, light caramel depth, creamy lactose body, pumpkin spice warmth, vanilla smoothness, and a full fall-inspired finish.

IMPORTANT BREWING NOTE

    Pumpkin stout

Excellent kit brewed up great. Ended up with a dark smooth drinking pumpkin stout. I'll start it earlier next year to have them ready for Halloween.

    Pumpkin Stout

Turned out a very nice stout. I think next time I would add more pumpkin spice.

Good Beer instructions could use work.

Thankfully the beer came out good because the instructions leave a little to be desired. I really wish Mr. beer would make videos of each recipe being brewed that we can reference. They are already doing video blogs. Why not Recipe walk-throughs? Especially for their new advanced series as there are more steps involved in the process and the instructions are not always clear with timings or settings. For example the instructions simply state add your pumpkin Puree to a small saucepan and brown it on the stove lightly. No idea how brown to get the pumpkin and is lightly referring to the color of the browning or the heat used? Seeing it demonstrated would have been helpful. But it gets more confusing as after providing temperature range to keep the grains at in the boil (VERY HELPFUL) it simply says Increase the temperature of the grain water to med/high and sprinkle in the packet of DME and stir to dissolve. Never having does this before it would have been nice to at least have a temperature range to go by. It proceeds Continue stirring constantly to keep the rising foam in check. If it begins to rise pull the pot off the heat and lower the temperature slightly continuing to stir (about 5 to 20 minutes depending on your particular conditions) until you hit the hot break which is where the foam has subsided and the solution is now boiling. Again having never done this process before I had no idea what to expect. Having a visual aid to watch this process would have been VERY…
