Your Brew Breakdown

Everything you need to craft your perfect brew

STORY

Overview: Phil-Hop-Sophy IPA is a bold hazy amber double IPA brewed with Long Play IPA Brewing Extract, BrewMax Pale LME, Carapils Malt, Nugget hops, Amarillo hops, Cascade hops, Centennial hops, and US-05 yeast. It delivers juicy citrus, tropical fruit, piney hop character, caramel malt depth, and a powerful 10% ABV finish.

PROFILE

Tasting Notes: Expect a big, hoppy double IPA with notes of tangerine, apricot, grapefruit, mango, and pleasant pine. A bold caramel malt backbone supports the hop intensity, while the finish stays bitter, full-bodied, and strong.

IMPORTANT BREWING NOTE

High-Gravity Note: This is a strong 10% ABV recipe. Expect a bigger body, longer fermentation, and additional conditioning time compared with a standard refill.

Dry Hop Note: Remaining hops are added on day 16 of fermentation to boost hop aroma and flavor.

Not bad for a third try

Very good bitter and tasty. It’s not quite the perfect IPA but absolutely one I will do again.

    Enjoyable beer with great flavor

The flavors head and drinkability of this beer is amazing. I was unfortunately not surprised to see a much darker coloration of the beer in comparison to what is pictured. I was hoping for a lighter color in order to see the true hazy west coast style beer. All in all I will definitely be brewing this beer again with hopes of getting a lighter color while maintaining the same great taste

    My first partial mash

Just bottled today and sampled a little bit. The flavor and aroma is very nice. It has lots of juicy apricot and tangerine type flavors. After speaking with customer support it was noted that the 10% listed in the brew specs is a mistake. My brew came in at 7.35% before bottling. I’m very much looking forward to drinking this once the conditioning and carbonation is complete.

    Super excited

This is a fun one to brew with the partial mash and the late hop additions. Instructions are clear and process is smooth. Can’t wait to taste this one!
