Your Brew Breakdown

Everything you need to craft your perfect brew

STORY

Overview: Running With The Dev-Ale is a bold, balanced ale brewed with Oktoberfest Lager Brewing Extract, Pale DME, Robust LME, Crystal 40, Red Wheat, Amarillo hops, Centennial hops, Saaz hops, and S-33 yeast. It delivers dark malt character, citrus hop notes, subtle spice, wheat body, and a smooth 6.3% finish.

PROFILE

Tasting Notes: Expect a balanced dark ale with rich malt flavor, caramel-like depth, smooth wheat body, citrusy hop character from Amarillo and Centennial, subtle herbal-spicy notes from Saaz, and a clean, smooth finish.

IMPORTANT BREWING NOTE

Hop Schedule Note: This recipe uses two mixed hop sacks. Each hop sack gets 1 packet Amarillo, 1 packet Centennial, and 1 packet Saaz. One hop sack is boiled for 30 minutes, and the second hop sack is added at flameout before the brewing extract is mixed in.

DME Note: Add the Pale DME slowly while stirring. Some clumps are okay and will break down during fermentation.

Yeast Note: Use the included S-33 yeast for this recipe. Do not use the yeast packet from under the Brewing Extract lid.

    running with a dud

well I haven't tried my brew yet because I just brewed it 17 days ago. but the only reason why I give it one stars so far is because when I went to carbonate my brew I was able to only get 7 one liter bottles out of the batch instead of the normal 8. I think they should update the recipe to call for more water during the brewing process bacause after boiling your wort for that long you will have some evaporation and water holding in the malts and hops. so other than that I'm not happy ill be without one more brew to drink after spending that much on the recipe

Very interesting to brew lots of hops. Can’t comment on the taste (I’m thinking it will stay in the bottles a room temp. until March when I’ll taste one on my Birthday as the signs into the Fla. Keys say Patients Pays.
