STORY

Overview: Schnapsidee Fest Beer 5 Gallon is a malty German-style lager brewed with Coopers Light Malt, Coopers Light Dry Malt, Booster, Munich Malt, Crystal 60 Malt, Hallertau hops, and W-34/70 lager yeast. It delivers smooth malt flavor, mild hop character, clean lager fermentation, and a crisp 5.9% finish.

PROFILE

Tasting Notes: Expect a clean, malty fest beer with light malt sweetness, Munich malt depth, subtle caramel character from Crystal 60, mild Hallertau hop bitterness, and a smooth lager finish. It is rich enough for fall drinking but clean enough to keep the next pour easy.

IMPORTANT BREWING NOTE

True Lager Fermentation: This recipe uses W-34/70 lager yeast and should ferment cool, between 52°F and 58°F, and out of direct sunlight.

Fermentation Timing Note: The source instructions list 14 days in the fermentation section but reference bottling after 21 days. For this 5 gallon lager recipe, plan on 21 days before bottling for a cleaner, more complete fermentation.

5 Gallon Batch Note: This recipe is brewed to 5 gallons, or 19 liters. Make sure your fermenter has enough capacity before starting.
