Your Brew Breakdown

Everything you need to craft your perfect brew

STORY

Overview: The King’s Märzen pays tribute to King Ludwig I, whose 1810 wedding celebration helped launch what became Oktoberfest. This amber lager-style recipe is brewed with Oktoberfest Lager Brewing Extract, Pale DME, Hallertau hops, and Saflager W-34/70 yeast for a smooth, malty beer built for cool fermentation and patient conditioning.

PROFILE

Tasting Notes: Expect a rich amber lager with toasted malt flavor, smooth body, subtle Hallertau hop spice, clean fermentation character, and a crisp, malty finish.

IMPORTANT BREWING NOTE

Fermentation Note: This is a lager-style recipe. For the cleanest flavor, ferment cool at about 55°F / 12°C and allow extra conditioning time before serving.

    Interesting flavor.

It’s a little hard to explain the flavor. I really couldn’t taste an Oktoberfest in it at first. The longer I waited to put the next one in the fridge the flavor got deeper and better and it tastes a little spicy. So I did like and would recommend but still would not say I taste Oktoberfest in it.

The brew process instructions resulted in a sticky clumpy putty like substance in my wort that would not dissolve separate or liquify after an hour of stirring over heat. Just nasty. The whole thing had to be tossed. Waste of money.
