Your Brew Breakdown

Everything you need to craft your perfect brew

STORY

Overview: Coopers Preacher's Hefe Wheat is inspired by Thomas Cooper’s history as both a brewer and lay preacher. This 5-gallon refill carries that heritage into a Belgian-style wheat beer with bright hazy gold color, soft texture, banana and clove aroma, a creamy white head, and a refreshingly tart finish.

PROFILE

Tasting Notes: Expect a hazy golden wheat beer with soft mouthfeel, banana and clove aromas, smooth wheat malt character, a creamy white head, and a balanced tart finish. Coopers Wheat Malt Extract adds body and classic wheat beer smoothness.

WHAT YOU GET

  • Ingredient: 1 Can Coopers Preacher's Hefe Wheat Brewing Extract (HME)
  • Ingredient: 1 Packet Dry Brewing Yeast under the lid
  • Ingredient: 1 Can Coopers Wheat Malt Extract
  • Ingredient: 1 Packet Coopers Carbonation Drops
  • Ingredient: 2 Packets No-Rinse Cleanser

BREW SPECS

Original Gravity: 1.046
Final Gravity: 1.010

IMPORTANT BREWING NOTE

Batch Size Note: For the flavor and ABV listed on this product page, top off your fermenter to the 5-gallon / 19-liter mark.
Optional Volume Note: If your fermenter holds more volume, you can add water up to 23 liters / 6 gallons. This will produce more beer, but the flavor, body, bitterness, and ABV will be lighter.

BREW TIME

Fermentation: About 2 weeks
Carbonation and Conditioning: 3–4 weeks
Best Enjoyed: After 5–7 weeks total
Conditioning Note: Additional conditioning can help the wheat malt, banana and clove character, tart finish, and creamy mouthfeel smooth out.

WHY THIS REFILL

Why Brew It: This 5-gallon refill is a great choice for brewers who want a smooth, hazy wheat beer with banana, clove, creamy head, and a refreshing tart finish in a larger-format batch.

    Preachers Hefe

Haven’t quite tried the finished product yet (not quite done conditioning) but I can tell this is a winner from the little bit I tried while transferring to the keg. I’ll definitely be buying again! Highly recommend!

    Preaching to the Choir

An excellent full-body taste particularly when ice-cold. This is the beer to hand to a home-brewing skeptic and say 'Try this one and tell me what you think.' It does not disappoint in terms of flavor with just a bit of a bite in the aftertaste. For good measure I dry-hop this six gallon batch with eight ounces of Cascades 14 days into a 21 day fermentation. So far great results!

    Hefe Wheat is a Winner

Of all the beer recipes I purchased from Mr. Beer the Hefe Wheat has become my favorite. This beer is easy to brew and worth the short waiting period before drinking and sharing with my friends.
